In case you missed it: Please see Help Us Help Omer for background information.
Omer remains in lockdown in Nepal during the COVID-19 outbreak. Recently some significant health issues have compounded his situation. Our friends at CFI U.S. have found a donor to provide for Omer’s healthcare costs. We are happy to be able to continue to support Omer, with enough money in reserve to see him through 2021.
Please consider donating. We believe it will be at least another year before the Immigration and Citizenship Canada process is complete. (You can read more about that here.) Should it take less time than anticipated, CFIC is committed to using any surplus in our Assistance for Apostates fund to help another refugee.
Omer asked that we share the following message with you.
Greetings,
I am writing today to update CFIC and all the donors about my current situation. Currently India is facing another wave of covid and we can notice the impact of that wave here in Nepal as well, because of the free movement on border between these two countries. Covid cases in Nepal are also on the rise. I called UNHCR (United Nations High Commission on Refugees) to inquire about the vaccine and they said “we are looking towards Nepal Government” so it’s less likely that we (refugees) will get jabs any time soon.
Other than that I am also dealing with some health complications. I have very high cholesterol, high uric acid, fatty liver, and some other complications. Thanks to CFI I was able to go for best available checkup/treatment. I am currently on medication for six weeks and then there will be another round of scans/tests to see if there is any improvement. Nepal does not consider us (refugees) legal and we don’t have any healthcare facility here. I would like to thank CFI and all the donors. Without your help my survival and treatment would not have been possible.
Thank you for being there for me.
Thank you to the many CFIC members whose generosity has helped us keep Omer safe for the past 15 months.
