In case you missed it: Please see Help Us Help Omer for background information.
Thank you to everyone who donates to help us help Omer. Last month we let you know that Omer was experiencing some health challenges. We are happy to report that thanks to a large donor from CFI U.S., Omer was able to access medical care and is doing much better.
Recently, Omer received correspondence from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, indicating that they are going to try to use technology to interview refugees virtually. Omer does not yet know whether he will be selected for a virtual interview but it is promising that after a 14-month shutdown there will be some progress. He does know another refugee who was interviewed virtually and that is giving him hope.
Meanwhile, Nepal is suffering through another lockdown which began April 29. Omer has adopted some solitary hobbies to keep him busy while he waits for word that he can come to Canada. As always, Omer is quick to express sincere and deep appreciation to the CFIC donors who have so generously kept him going for the past 18 months and is optimistically looking forward to his new life in Canada, including seeing snow for the first time and finding someone to “take me to the mountains to try skiing and help me crack my old knees.”

Thanks for the update on Omer. I am anxious for his arrival in Canada ASAP.
