CFIC is launching a series of “town hall” gatherings. Once in a month, starting on May 1, 2024 we will gather on Zoom to discuss a selected topic relevant to our society and our democracy. Our objective is to nurture a culture of respectful and open-minded discussion and by doing so to participate in building a resilient democratic society. The format of the town hall meeting will be a moderated discussion in which the attendees debate and discuss. It will not be structured as a webinar with a presenter and questions asked by the audience.
We will select a topic by polling CFIC members and the wider public and prepare a background document on the selected topic. The background document will introduce the topic and will include some questions as well. The document will be available for download from the CFIC website a week ahead of the town hall meeting.
In the coming weeks we will conduct a poll to choose the topic for our first meeting.
Please join us for the first meeting on 1st of May. Watch for more information in the April Critical Links. If you are interested in participating, and/or have suggestions for discussion topics, please post them in the comments below, or send an email to townhall@centreforinquiry.ca.
Excellent idea. Look forward to participating.
