A big thanks to everyone who downloaded, signed, and returned the petition to stop the public funding of Ontario’s discriminatory Catholic School system! We received almost 500 signatures, and will be delivering them to MPP Jessica Bell in the next week. We will let you know when she has a date to present the petition. If you did not get your petition signed or mailed, there’s still time to download the petition and mail your signed copy. We will gather any additional petitions we receive and send them along as a bunch to bolster our original numbers.
Over the course of this campaign, we heard from many of you from Alberta and Saskatchewan that this was not only an Ontario issue. In fact, in addition to the three provinces, there are two territories (Yukon and the Northwest Territories) that also provide public funding for Catholic school systems. If you live in one of these provinces or territories and want to do something about this, please email us here. We can help you to determine how to get a petition in front of your provincial legislature and we can help you to promote your petition.
(Please note that Ontario government regulations require original hand-written signatures — there is no provision for electronic submission. We are happy to accept all completed forms whether with one signature or 20!)
