A brief note, as the news came in just as Critical Links was going to press.
It’s disturbing to note that the U.S., despite being one of the richest countries in the world, is nonetheless ranked 55th for deaths due to pregnancy. It’s mind-boggling to note that now even more women are going to be forced to give birth against their will, and of course this is going to disproportionately affect poor women and women of colour. It’s also alarming to see that many politicians and judges are proclaiming that this is just the start, and that some have their eyes on removing access to abortion even to save the life of a pregnant woman, and then going on to further restrict birth control and also same-sex marriage.
