Author talk: Democracy, Deity, and Death
Dr Qais Ghanem discussed his recent book, Democracy, Deity, and Death. The novel describes a series of discussions among 4 Arabs, with completely different religious backgrounds and beliefs, who meet regularly at a London café. The fictional participants include a young devout Muslim from Yemen, a middle-aged gay Lebanese Christian, a retired secular Egyptian Professor of Biology with a German education, and a middle-aged Egyptian bank manager who has discarded all her Islamic traditions and beliefs.
Dr Ghanem spoke about his book and we had a Q+A and discussion. Copies of the book were available for purchase at the event.
