Scammie #7: Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy

Thanks to Gleb Lisikh for nominating Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy (BFST) for our 2019 Scammies. BFST is apparently a very high-priced heating pad for people who are looking for a solution for an ongoing injury.  Zack Dumont, CFIC Science Chair, acknowledges that King Brand’s BFST product has an “FDA registration”.  However, this should not be regarded as an indication of effectiveness – it simply indicates that the product does what it says (it heats) and is not harmful when used as directed.   Regarding the product’s effectiveness, the only information presented on King Brand’s website is based on testimonials (the lowest form of evidence).  Dumont’s conclusion is that there is no scientific basis for the claims of this product.

I would not recommend ordering from King Brand. I have a torn meniscus and although their website states it will help heal, you have to get the product first. I ordered on Jan. 2nd, 2025, it’s now Jan 28th, 2025 and I STILL don’t have my product. Their customer service is NOT helpful and have a different answer every time you speak with someone. In addition, they only have insurance for $100 on their shipped products, even though most of their products cost way more than that. I’ve been told I’m basically out of luck on getting my product or getting a refund. Absolutely ridiculous!
