May 2024 Dates

Posted on April 28, 2024June 29, 2024 By Critical Links

May 3 is World Press Freedom day.  This year’s theme: Journalism in the face of the Environmental Crisis

May the 4th be with you, on Star Wars Day

May 4 is also World Password Day  (need we mention that using the name of your favourite Star Wars character, however obscure, is not a secure password strategy?)

In the month of May, many of us think about spending more time outdoors.  There are activities to celebrate, such as cycling (May 1 is Learn to Ride a Bike Day and May 19 is Unicycle Day), but also some cautions about melanoma and asthma

May 5-11 is Emergency Preparedness Week. Increasing effects from the climate crisis have made many of us all too aware of the need to “Be Prepared, Know Your Risks”

May 11 is the first part of the semiannual recognition of World Migratory Bird Day

May 6-12 is National Nursing Week

May 17 is International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia

May 19 is World Bee Day, recognizing the importance of the contribution of pollinators to the health of the planet

Depending on your beverage of choice, you can celebrate Tea Day on May 21, or Wine Day on May 25.

If you celebrate any of these, or have suggestions for upcoming celebrations or observances, please drop us a line or send a picture to CriticalLinks@centreforinquiry.ca.
