February is Black History Month. This year’s theme: “Black Legacy and Leadership: Celebrating Canadian History and Uplifting Future Generations.”
February is Psychology Month. 2025’s theme is “Women in Science”; February 11 is also the UN International Day of Women and Girls in Science.
February 4 is World Cancer Day.

February 20 is the United Nations World Social Justice Day.
2020 hindsight: The first U.S. cases of community-acquired COVID-19 were identified on February 26 and 28, 2020, suggesting that community transmission in the U.S. was occurring by late February. (At that time, COVID cases in Canada were traceable to out-of-country travellers and their close contacts.)
100 years ago:
On February 28, 1925, one of the most powerful earthquakes of the 20th century occurred in the Charlevoix-Kamouraska area of Quebec.
At 5:30 a.m. on Monday, February 2, 1925, a driver and team of sled dogs arrived in Nome, Alaska, with their cargo of life-saving diphtheria serum.
