Nate Phelps – Son of leader of Westboro Baptist Church “Leaving Hate Behind”

March 20, 2014 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

This is the premier event of the newly formed Secular Humanists of SAMRU at Mount Royal University. They endorse and promote the fact that people can and should be good without religion. CFI Calgary is proud to support the Secular Humanists of SAMRU.

Join us for an exciting night, while Nate Phelps shares his story of journeying from a life of ignorance and hate, to a life of enlightenment and love in his talk entitled “Leaving Hate Behind”. Nate Phelps is the son of Fred Phelps, the founder and pastor of the very controversial Westboro Baptist Church. Due to the church’s strong hatred, most noticeably for homosexuals, and their in your face tactics of proselytizing, they have been labeled “The most hated family in America.” Nate Phelps left the church and fled from his abusive home at the age of 18. After many years of struggling with his religious beliefs he finally lost his faith in Christianity and became non-religious. Please join us for his talk entitled, “Leaving Hate Behind” where he will share his very interesting and eye opening account of his life in the church and his life after.
