October 2023 Dates

Posted on September 28, 2023October 1, 2023 By Critical Links 1 Comment on October 2023 Dates

October is Women’s History Month. This year’s theme is “Through Her Lens: Celebrating the Diversity of Women.”

October 1 is National Seniors Day in Canada, coinciding with the United Nations International Day of Older Persons.

October 1 is also World Vegetarian Day.

Hug your Pet Rock: October 6 is International Geodiversity Day.

October 6 is also Noodle Day.

October 11 is United Nations International Day of the Girl Child.

Mole Day is October 23. Or for this year, if you are really into chemistry, you can celebrate 10/23 for the entire month!

If you celebrate any of these, or have suggestions for upcoming celebrations or observances, please drop us a line or send a picture to CriticalLinks@centreforinquiry.ca.

Advertising the “art” made by AI by blending human effort of countless internet creators is not the best way to advertise the “Mole Day”. The most ominous aspect of this kind of “work” is that it does not carry any senses besides the most vague idea of topic. I think humanists, of all people, need to look carefully at human implications of having computers create “art” devoid of human sense. Why not look for real art made by a real artist, that actually conveys a feeling or intention?
