As the weather gets warmer and we shed layers of clothing, the Canadian Dermatology Association has declared May to be Skin Awareness Month.

May the 4th be with you. Happy Star Wars Day!

May 4 is also the (197th) birthday of English biologist Thomas Henry Huxley, sometimes known as Darwin’s Bulldog for his public defence of Darwin’s controversial theories.

May 10 is the 122nd anniversary of the birth of Cecilia Payne-Gaposchkin, a pioneering astrophysicist who was the first to propose that stars are primarily composed of hydrogen and helium.

May 12 is the anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale, and celebrated as International Nurses Day. As we enter the 3rd year of global pandemic, we recognize the critical importance of nurses and other healthcare professionals.

May 17 is the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia.

Recognizing that tea is the world’s second-most consumed drink (after water), the United Nations General Assembly has officially designated May 21 as International Tea Day. Cheers!
