Once again, Omer’s case is moving forward and he has a new medical exam scheduled. If this sounds like you’ve heard it before, it is because this is the case.
Twice, we have been excited that Omer had made it through another hurdle. The first time, the momentum was ended when faced with very high overstay fees from Nepal. Having (mostly) solved this issue by raising funds for these fees, a clerical error resulted in Omer’s papers being sent to India instead of Nepal. Consequently he was unable to obtain them. While this error was being corrected, Omer’s medical clearance expired.
Omer’s sponsors are working behind the scenes to keep things moving. At the request of the Group of Five Refugee sponsors, a Casework Officer in the local MP’s office contacted the IRCC office in Ottawa. Shortly after that contact, the Migration Section of the High Commission of Canada in New Delhi requested a new medical exam.
We are cautiously optimistic that his paperwork is now being rerouted and that once the new medical is completed, we might be on the final leg of this journey.
