CFIC has published the fourth report in our Cost of Religion series, examining how charities advocating the advancement of religion benefit from preferential tax treatment. Religious charities save over $1 billion in taxes every year through property tax exemptions and public service body rebates.

Read the full report about tax implications of granting religious organizations charitable status, or read the whole Cost of Religion in Canada series of reports.

Please watch for the concluding report in this series, coming out this summer.

I’ve been a member of CFIC for a few years. During those years I thought CFI to be too timid. But now with the charities issues, I’m delighted to be part of it.
