September 4 to 11 is Fibromyalgia Awareness Week, during which persons with fibromyalgia from across Canada gather to commiserate, strengthen influence with government decision makers, and advocate for further research about the mysterious syndrome.

September 6 is Fight Procrastination Day, but you might consider putting off celebrating it until the Sept 7.

September 8 is International Literacy Day, recognizing the importance of literacy as a matter of dignity and human rights, and working towards a more literate and sustainable society. (Despite progress made, at least 771 million young people and adults lack basic literacy skills today.)

September 23 is the Autumn Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere, or Spring Equinox if you are in the southern half of the planet. (Read more here about equinox myths and misconceptions.)

September 28 is World Rabies Day, commemorated on the anniversary of the death of Louis Pasteur.

September 28 is also the UNESCO International Day for Universal Access to Information. This year’s theme is “Artificial Intelligence, e-Governance and Access to Information.”

September 30 is the second annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day.
