Online talk: Mission and Misogyny

Posted on January 28, 2026January 28, 2026 By Critical Links No Comments on Online talk: Mission and Misogyny

We’d like to invite you to an online talk on our new report on how some religious charities are promoting sexism, patriarchy, and violence against women.

Mission and Misogyny uncovers the extent that religious organisations can promote regressive and harmful ideas about women – all while claiming the benefits of charitable status.

Report author and NSS head of campaigns Megan Manson will present the report’s findings and how misogyny is being furthered under the guise of the charitable purpose of the ‘advancement of religion’.

This report is the first of its kind to expose how the special status of religion in charity law is contributing to a climate of misogyny and sexism both online and in the ‘real world’.

The talk will be held on Zoom on Tuesday, 10 February, and is free for anyone to attend.

With concerns about misogyny and violence against women and girls on the rise, this talk promises to be a lively and engaging discussion of a pressing topic. It will be followed by an audience Q&A.

You can register for the talk here.

Hope to see you there,

Fódhla Brady

Engagement Officer

PS. If you’re on X (formerly Twitter) or Bluesky, please feel free to share our post about the event, or forward this email to anyone you feel may be interested!
