Maoism, Stalinism and other totalitarian -isms are often used as examples of atheistic societies in defence of religion. However, the difference between ideological dogma and religious dogma might be illusory. It may not be atheism vs. religion but one dogma vs. another.
Many of our members have experienced such indoctrination of while growing up. What are the similarities between ideological and religious indoctrination? What is it like to overcome indoctrination? Join us for an informal member chat where we can all share our lived experiences and learn from each other.
Sophie Dulesh, MD, PhD, and Gleb Lisikh will start us off with their memories of the religion-like dogmatism, and emotional appeal to one’s "tribe" in the USSR, and share insights from their experiences.
