Science involves systematic, empirical research and builds on all past scientific investigation. As such, it is constantly self-evaluating and self-correcting. Science leads to better, longer lives. Yet science is under attack. Self-serving “snake oil salesmen” seek to undermine science. Naïve consumers opt for quick fixes and easy solutions, undermining the ability of science to improve lives for everyone.
Inquiry involves learning and changing. The changing part of the equation is what makes it work, but also what causes people to doubt science. Learning to inquire is critical to evaluating information and differentiating between science and pseudo-science. It helps us to make decisions based on what we know, rather than what we wish were true.
Science has helped us through the pandemic and is our only hope of mitigating the climate crisis. Science offers us longer lives and better lives.
CFIC helps people to understand the science behind important discoveries and current events and helps people to evaluate research and separate science from pseudo-science. CFIC helps individuals to protect themselves from predatory scams and helps populations to advocate for governments to use science to solve problems.
Science can make our world better, provided people use inquiry.
Inquiry… It’s in our name.
