How does CFIC decide on campaigns?

Posted on June 19, 2025June 30, 2025 By Critical Links

Sandra Dunham

Recently, you may have noticed that Critical Links has carried a lot of information about nuclear energy and thought “has CFIC undertaken a new project?” The answer is “yes and no.”

It is important to remember that CFIC is not a living, breathing entity. We are a collection of humans with a variety of experiences, education and interests. We go where our members take us – provided they are taking us somewhere beneficial and fact-based.

Recently, a long-time member of CFIC, Todd De Ryck, came forward and asked where we stood on nuclear energy. Our response was that most of our members supported the use of nuclear energy but that CFIC lacked the science-based background in nuclear energy that would allow us to do much about it. Todd changed all this. With extensive education and contacts in nuclear energy, Todd asked if he could help us to do this work. Of course we have taken advantage of this offer.

You may have read Promising Research on Nuclear Reactors, or Use Science, Not Emotion to Drive Climate Solutions in recent editions of Critical Links. And, we encourage you to learn more from Todd at his upcoming webinar “Energy, Prosperity and Geopolitics.” We appreciate Todd’s contributions.

We publish articles by other members about science, secularism and critical thinking in areas that matter the most to them. We are always happy to hear our members’ perspectives, and, provided these perspectives include links to research backed information, we are happy to publish these perspectives.

If you have an article related to science, critical thinking or secularism, please send it our way (criticallinks@centreforinquiry.ca). If you have a project that you would like to see us undertake, we can provide administrative support for you and that project (again, if the project is in alignment with our mission.) Why not write to us at info@centreforinquiry.ca. Together we can do much.
