Café Inquiry: Time

Posted on November 8, 2013November 20, 2013 By Centre for Inquiry Canada Okanagan

Time is a wonderful thing. You never have enough of it, except when you have too much of it. Sometimes it flies, and sometimes it drags on. From a physics point of view time is fascinating. At this Café Inquiry, we’re going to talk about time and physics. Everything from thermodynamics to clocks to time travel and black holes.

The speaker is Dr Ben Tippett. He was born in Alberta, and moved to BC as a teenager. He studied physics as an undergraduate at UBC in vancouver, and then got his masters in physics from Queen’s University, and his PhD from the University of New Brunswick. He is an expert in General Relativity: Einstein’s theory of gravity and curved spacetime. He is currently a sessional math instructor at UBC Okanagan. He spends his spare time hosting the Titanium Physicists Podcast, a monthly half-hour long show where physicists explain complicated physics to a layperson, and writing fun physics papers about things from pop culture.

5:30pm for dinner. 6:30pm for the talk. At the Bunkhouse restaurant (upstairs room), 2777 KLO Rd, Kelowna.
