February is Psychology Month. 2024’s theme is the climate crisis: How does human behaviour shape climate change, and how can we approach the issue from that perspective? 

February is also aboriginal storytelling month in Saskatchewan.

February 6 is the 111th anniversary of the birth of paleoanthropologist Mary Leakey.

On February 10, 1996, IBM’s Deep Blue computer made history by winning a chess game against World Champion Garry Kasparov.

February 11 is the UN International Day of Women and Girls in Science.

February 12 is Darwin Day, celebrating the 215th anniversary of the birth of Charles Darwin. Check out the Darwin Day website to find more about virtual and in-person events being held around the world, from Feb 3 to Feb 17.

February 18 to 24 is Freedom to Read Week.

February 20 is the United Nations World Social Justice Day.

February 28 is Pink Shirt Day, raising awareness of bullying, and developing programs and initiatives to oppose it.
