Summer solstice, indigenous history, 100 years of TV

June is National Indigenous History Month; June 21 is National Indigenous Peoples Day

June is also the start of Pride Season, and LGBTQ+ celebrations are held in many communities in Canada during the summer.

June 4 is International Hug your Cat Day.

June 20 is World Refugee Day

June 20 is also  the Northern Hemisphere’s  Summer Solstice, marking the shortest night/longest day of the year.

June 23 is the National Day of Remembrance for Victims of Terrorism


100 years ago:

A century of TV: On June 30, 1925, Charles Francis Jenkins was granted a patent for “Transmitting Pictures over Wireless”

On June 17, 1925, 38 nations signed the Geneva Protocol, which prohibits “Use in War of Asphyxiating, Poisonous or Other Gases, and of Bacteriological Methods of Warfare”
