July-Augst 2024 Dates

This issue, we are publishing dates of interest for July and August – back again in September.

July 4 is the 90th anniversary of the death of Marie Curie, the first woman to be awarded a Nobel Prize for her work on radiation

July 11 is World Population Day 

July 20 marks the 55th anniversary of the first human to set foot on another world. 

July 29 is International Tiger Day 

July 25 marks 104 years since the birth of Rosalind Franklin, co-discoverer of the helical structure of DNA.

August is National Immunization Month 

August 1, aka “Dogust”, is recognized as the birthday for dogs adopted from shelters 

August 6 is the 79th anniversary of the detonation of nuclear bombs over Hiroshima and Nagasaki 

August 9 is International Cat Day

August 9 is International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples 

August 23 is International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition
