Introducing the Podcast for Inquiry

Sandra Dunham

Have you listened to the Podcast for Inquiry yet? If not, you are missing something great. The idea for the Podcast for Inquiry was hatched in early 2021 when long-time member and supporter Lee Shields suggested that CFIC should have a media club. Add to that nugget, volunteer Matt Payne who had the knowledge, skills, and willingness to make it happen.

Mix in CFIC’s Secular Chair and board member Leslie Rosenblood, who is thriving on the opportunity to research a new topic every two weeks and meet and interview interesting people. Finally, spice it up with CFIC’s President, Gus Lyn-Piluso, who works tirelessly to connect with interesting, controversial, and compelling speakers. This small recipe has led to amazing results.

The Podcast for Inquiry allows CFIC to hear from people with diverse viewpoints. From discussions in favour of as well as against Quebec’s Bill 21, to how philosophical skepticism enhances one’s acting career, Podcast for Inquiry brings you intelligent, nuanced conversations about complex topics every two weeks. We believe that this diversity leads to an exciting opportunity to hear from people with viewpoints that may differ from our own. It gives us an exciting break from social media, where we are constantly served a menu of viewpoints that may create an echo chamber in our own minds.

Leslie does an amazing job of exploring and sometimes contesting viewpoints. The podcast is designed to be sometimes edgy and provocative but always engaging. If you have not listened to the podcast yet, please give it a try. We bet that you will be hooked! You can find the Podcast for Inquiry anywhere you listen to podcasts. Our most recently released podcast is always on the CFIC homepage.

If you have listened, please tell us what your favorite podcast is, and something cool or interesting you learned from it. And if there is someone fascinating you want to hear on Podcast for Inquiry, or a topic that you think needs discussion, please send that request here and we will try to make it happen!
