  • On March 1, 1864, Rebecca Lee Crumpler became the first African-American woman to receive a medical degree.
  • Ahoy-hoy! This March 7 marks 145 years since Alexander Graham Bell was granted a patent for the first practical telephone.
  • March 8 is International Women’s Day. This year’s theme: A challenged world is an alert world and from challenge comes change. #ChooseToChallenge
  • March 14 is Pi Day. Learn more about the history of π.
  • Join the resistance, and celebrate the anniversary of Ohm’s law, discovered on March 17, 1787.
  • Time for the equinox: At 09:37 UT on March 20, the plane of Earth’s equator passes through the geometric center of the Sun’s disk. Did you know that it’s possible to balance an egg on its end on the day of the spring or fall equinox?
  • Prevent at least one way of becoming an April Fool: Celebrate World Backup Day on March 31.
