CFIC Town Hall Meeting #8 – “Are we ready for AI?”

Posted on December 1, 2025December 2, 2025 By Martin Zielinski No Comments on CFIC Town Hall Meeting #8 – “Are we ready for AI?”

Town-Hall: “ Are we ready for AI?”

14th of December 8:00 pm EST

Mustafa Suleyman, the head of Microsoft’s AI division, lists numerous benefits that AI will bring to humanity in medicine, education, engineering, and more. Geoffrey Hinton, the “godfather of AI,” agrees, but he is also very concerned about the likely misuse of AI by bad actors; he is worried about autonomous weapons, about the banking system’s vulnerability to AI-generated attacks, and about humanity’s future in which AI goals do not align with humanity’s goals. Stephen Hawking listed AI as one of the existential threats to humanity, as do many other prominent thinkers.

AI is already here, affecting and transforming how we search for information, create media content, and solve engineering problems. Some have claimed that, within 5 to 15 years, AI will become super-intelligent and humanity will be the less intelligent species.

In the upcoming Town-Hall meeting, we will ask, “ Are we ready for AI?” Please come and join the discussion on the 14th of December at 8:00 pm EST on Zoom (https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82282012335?pwd=LdztFwnbnm53lbfgEwoJpjn9KeC3vx.1)
