What Do We Actually Know?

Posted on May 22, 2025July 29, 2025 By Critical Links

Benjamin Andrews

  1. The Universe Exists.

We witness it every time we open our eyes. While many theories try to explain how it began or how it might end, none have been empirically proven.

2. The Laws of Nature Exist.

We rely on them daily—from gravity to chemistry—but we don’t know how or why these laws came into being.

3. You Did Not Exist Before Conception.

Your life began when a random sperm met a random egg. That unique combination created you—a person with distinct fingerprints and DNA. No one else has ever been, or ever will be, exactly like you.

4. Consciousness Requires a Living Brain.

Decades of scientific research confirm that awareness and the sense of self are brain functions. When the brain dies, so does consciousness. Speculations about souls, spirits, or afterlives are not backed by evidence.

Conclusion: The Reality of Life and Death

  • Before conception—you did not exist.
  • After death—you will not exist.

This is not a bleak message, but a freeing one. There’s no reincarnation, no eternal afterlife, no punishment or reward awaiting. Whether a god exists or whether we are the product of a larger cosmic experiment, is irrelevant—because we won’t be there to know it.

What we do know is this:

 You are here now.

This is your one, precious chance to witness the universe.

So live fully, live boldly, and live without fear.
