Town Hall: November 16, 2025, 8pm EDT
Yuval Harari argues that Homo Sapiens’ biggest advantage is not our brain power but the fact that we know how to cooperate on a large scale. Language and sharing of information, data, and experiences are, of course, critical prerequisites for cooperation. In the next Town-Hall meeting we will discuss the impact of the new ways we communicate – emails, internet forums and social platforms – on our society on us, the individuals, and in particular on the younger generations that live and socialize online.
Join the discussion via Zoom, on November 16 at 8pm EDT.
Background material will be made available here, one week prior to the meeting
about town halls:
CFIC is launching a series of town hall gatherings. Once in a month, starting on the 11th of May 2025, we will gather on Zoom to discuss a selected topic relevant to our society and our democracy.
These meetings are not planned to be webinars; the format will be a moderated discussion in which the attendees debate and discuss. Our objective is to nurture a culture of respectful and open-minded discussion and, by doing so foster a democratic and participatory citizenship.
Topics are selected by polling CFIC members and the wider public. A background document on the selected topic will be available for download from the CFIC website a week ahead of the Town Hall meeting.
