Are you passionate about promoting science, reason, secularism, and humanist values? Do you wish your city or town had a space where thoughtful people could come together to explore big ideas, challenge misinformation, and build a stronger, more rational society?
Centre for Inquiry Canada (CFIC) is looking for committed, community-minded individuals to help launch and lead local CFIC groups across the country — and we want you to be part of that movement.
Why Start a CFIC Group?
Starting a CFIC group isn’t just about organizing events — it’s about making a real difference in your community. You’ll be helping to foster critical thinking, combat pseudoscience and superstition, and create a welcoming environment for secular and science-minded people.
You’ll also be joining something bigger than your local circle.
As a CFIC group leader, you’ll be part of a national organization with chapters across Canada. That means connecting with like-minded people from coast to coast, sharing ideas and resources, and working together on national campaigns and events. You won’t be doing this in isolation — you’ll be part of a network of passionate, committed volunteers working toward a shared vision.
You Won’t Be Doing It Alone
We know starting something new can be daunting — but don’t worry, you’ll receive full training and support every step of the way.
- We’ll help you get started with onboarding, coaching, and planning tools.
- You’ll have access to CFIC’s national resources and communications platforms.
- You’ll be connected with other local leaders who can share their insights and strategies.
And most importantly, you’ll have the freedom to build your own local team. Bring together a group of people in your area who share your passion — friends, colleagues, or new volunteers — and create a shared leadership model that works for your community. We encourage collaboration, not burnout.
What Can a Local Group Do?
That’s up to you! CFIC groups have organized a wide range of events and initiatives, including:
- Public talks and lectures
- Book clubs and discussion nights
- Film screenings and debates
- Science education outreach
- Social gatherings for skeptics, atheists, and humanists
- Partnerships with local organizations and causes
Whether you want to take on major advocacy campaigns or simply bring curious minds together over coffee, you’ll have the flexibility to shape your group based on your interests and your community’s needs.
Ready to Get Started?
If this sounds like something you’d love to be part of, we’d love to hear from you. Starting a CFIC group is a rewarding way to contribute to your community, develop leadership skills, and be part of something bigger.
