This hands-on workshop covered the common types of health research methods that deal with therapies, and how that research is used to develop national guideline recommendations.

It  also covered basic statistical measures of treatment effect. We worked through some examples of recent health articles to demonstrate the points covered and provide the basis for discussion.

Our presenter, Dr Michael Allen, has an MSc in Community Health and Epidemiology and has taught evidence-based medicine to physicians and medical students through his work for Dalhousie University Faculty of Medicine.
