100 years ago:
The trial of Tennessee high school teacher John Scopes took place July 10 to July 21, 1925. Scopes had been accused of violating state law by teaching evolution. He was convicted – he had, after all, taught the theory of evolution in violation of state law, but was later acquitted on the technicality that the $100 fine was excessive. A century later, the story continues.
