Okanagan – Kids for Inquiry: Chemist
Chemistry is the driving force inside batteries and they can be made out of a variety of different ingredients. At this KFI gathering, the kids will be making batteries out of pennies!
We will have plenty of pennies, but if you have any pennies lying around, please do bring them along and put them to good use. 🙂
Can you make a battery that will light an LED? Does it make a difference how many pennies you use? Why? Test your battery and see if it can power other items you bring from home. (Bring small things that take one or two AA batteries and let’s test them out!)
This project can count towards the Chemist patch on DIY.org:https://diy.org/skills/chemist/challenges/360/light-an-led-with-a-homemade-battery
Younger kids will definitely need help with this project, so parents should stay to help. Older kids may be dropped off; please sign them in and leave a phone number so you can be contacted. Thanks!
Please RSVP on Meetup:

(That list of RSVPs will be taken as the definitive list, not the Facebook RSVPs.)
This event is free, but donations to cover costs are very welcome. 🙂
