Montreal Freethinkers Book Club

Hello fellow freethinkers. This month we were going to be reading be reading Nonbeliever Nation by David Niose. However, I tried to pick it up at Chapters and Indigo and its out of stock at the moment. I did however order the book and found out it won’t be delivered until around the 10th of May. That does not leave very much time for reading so I am going to postpone this book for the following Month of June. This month just for a little fun, we will read “The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster”. This book is a satirical look at religion. Recently we have been dealing with some pretty serious topics including psychology, Scientology, leaving religion etc. I think this book will inspire some funny conversation and make an easy read for this month. It will give us a chance to have a little more fun this month.

CAN I GET A “RAMEN” FROM THE CONGREGATION?!

Behold the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster (FSM), today’s fastest growing carbohydrate-based religion. According to church founder Bobby Henderson, the universe and all life within it were created by a mystical and divine being: the Flying Spaghetti Monster. What drives the FSM’s devout followers, a.k.a. Pastafarians? Within these pages, Bobby Henderson outlines the true facts– dispelling such malicious myths as evolution (“only a theory”), science (“only a lot of theories”), and whether we’re really descended from apes (fact: Humans share 95 percent of their DNA with chimpanzees, but they share 99.9 percent with pirates!)
