Lying to Children – Saskatoon

December 20, 2013 @ 6:30 pm - 10:00 pm
Free

Our December meetup will be in the evening at 6:30pm to allow for more of relaxed party atmosphere. This year, we will discuss the issue of lying to children about Santa and related figures. Are there benefits to telling children these figures are real and having them figure out on their own that they are pretend? Should you always be honest with your kids – or at least about these myths?

Gift exchange: We are planning a simple gift exchange of used books or other items. Please do not purchase anything new for this event. Wrap your gift and bring it to the meetup for exchange. Everyone will select a gift to open and then you are free to exchange with others. Let Brandon know if you are unable to bring a gift.

Donations to Kiva: We have had a Kiva loans fund for a few years. Kiva is a program for providing funds for micro-loans – mostly to people in developing countries. We currently have $360.12 and have helped fund loans for 72 different entrepreneurs. Our number of loans and dollar amount of loans count toward the Atheists, Agnostics, Skeptics, Freethinkers, Secular Humanists and the Non-Religious team. If anyone would like to contribute new funds to our account, we will collect those at this meetup.

If you would also/instead like to make a year-end donation to CFI, we can accept that at the meetup or you can donate online here.
