Human Rights News Updates

Posted on November 29, 2024November 30, 2024 By Critical Links

E. Onur C. Romano

Omer is still in Nepal. An MP’s office has been involved in the cased and this has proven helpful for getting updates, but it has not expedited the process. Omer has completed his medicals for a second time and is waiting for a new visa to fly to Canada since the last one expired.  Unfortunately we do not have a clear date on the horizon. Once we have that date we will be working with other human rights partners to raise the ever-growing “overstay” fines levied by Nepal.

One high profile apostate case you may have been following involves Ahoo Daryaei, the Iranian collegiate who stripped to her underwear in protest against Iran’s mandatory hijab laws at a Tehran university. Ms Daryaei has been released without facing charges.

In other news, the Vatican is considering classifying ‘spiritual abuse’ a new Catholic crime. “Spiritual abuse” involves a priest claiming a mystical experience has caused him to harm someone.
