CFIC Secular Chair and Podcast for Inquiry host Leslie Rosenblood has been making the rounds of humanist conferences across Canada as a speaker and as a guest. He has heard informative talks, met interesting people and had a great time doing so.
The COVID pandemic instilled a habit of virtual meetings and webinars, and many have not resumed the practice of in person gatherings. Yet nothing compares to face to face interactions, especially with like minded people while learning from experts about issues that matter. Humanist conferences are a fantastic means of meeting others who care about similar issues and building community.
Leslie has many demands on his time, including raising his four children, building a career, hosting the biweekly “Podcast for Inquiry”, and more. He has recently represented CFIC at the Society of Freethinkers inaugural Humanism in Action conference, the Ontario Humanist Society’s Fill Your Life conference, and the Rocky Mountain Atheists WeCanReason conference. He is looking forward to attending BAHACON in Sarnia in early August. “When something is a priority, you arrange your schedule around those events,” Leslie says. “As good as the speakers are, the best part about going to a conference is the conversations I have with fellow attendees. Making new friends and deepening existing relationships makes the planning and effort trivially easy. I always leave a conference energized and
exhausted (in the best possible sense).”
This year, why not make it your priority to attend at least one conference? If you do, we’d love to hear about your experiences.
