CFIC hosts Town Hall Meetings

Posted on April 30, 2025June 30, 2025 By Critical Links

CFIC is launching a series of town hall gatherings. Once in a month, starting on 11th of May 2025 we will gather on Zoom to discuss a selected topic relevant to our society and our democracy.

These meetings are not planned to be webinars; the format will be a moderated discussion in which the attendees debate and discuss. Our objective is to nurture a culture of respectful and open-minded discussion and by doing so fostering a democratic and participatory citizenship.

We will select a topic by polling CFIC members and the wider public and prepare a background document on the selected topic. The background document will introduce the topic and will also include some questions. It will be available for download from the CFIC website a week ahead of the Town Hall meeting.

First Town Hall: May 11, 2025, 8pm EDT

Topic: Civic engagement

We will discuss what civic engagement is, what is a democratic engagement, examples of civic engagement and how the 21st century civic engagement is different.

Here are some question we will address:

  • Ways to practice civic engagement in Western democracies
  • What are the principal civic engagements that sustain and protect functional democracies
  • How civic engagement of 21 century differs from civic engagement in previous century?
  • Why Civic Engagement Matters: Unlocking the Benefits of Participation

Please join us for the first Town Hall meeting on the 11th of May on Zoom at 20:00 EDT
