He has appeared on Dancing with the Stars\, MTV Cribs\, and Chelsea Lately\, and hosted the NBC game show Identity. As part of Penn & Teller\, he has appeared more than twenty times on David Letterman\, as well as on several other TV shows\, from The Simpsons\, and Friends to Top Chef and Jimmy Fallon. He cohosted the controversial Showtime series Penn & Teller: Bullshit!\, which was nominated for sixteen Emmy Awards and was the longest-running show in the history of the network. The annual “Penn & Teller’s 13 Bloody Days of Xmas” continues to be the most successful blood drive in the Vegas Valley resulting in an average of 4000 pints donated every holiday season. \nIn April of this year\, Penn & Teller were given their very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n©2012 Centre for Inquiry | Canada · 2 College St · Suite 214 · Toronto\, Ontario\, M5G 1K3\n(416) 971-5676 · info@cficanada.ca\nUnsubscribe from receiving email\, or change your email preferences.\n\n\n\n\n  \nPlease click the Support button for more information on our CFI Membership levels. SUMMARY:Presentation of the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization (Saskatoon)
DESCRIPTION:For this month’s meet up\, we have a presentation by Paul Hodgson\, spokesperson for the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization\, located at the University of Saskatchewan. \nThe title of Paul’s talk will be \nEmerging infectious diseases: Real world ‘Contagion’ or media hype? \nThe ‘Contagion’ in the title refers to the recent movie\, starring Jude Law and Kate Winslet. As it happens\, the film was inspired by events such as the SARS crisis and attempts an accurate depiction of the outbreak\, spread and attempts to control a new contagious disease. Thus\, it might make good homework to watch the film before the meetup.

SUMMARY:God loves Uganda - Movie showing + panel
DESCRIPTION:GOD LOVES UGANDA \nWith God Loves Uganda\, Academy Award-winning filmmaker Roger Ross Williams (Music by Prudence) explores the role of the American Evangelical movement in fueling Uganda’s terrifying turn towards biblical law and the proposed death penalty for homosexuality. Thanks to charismatic religious leaders and a well-financed campaign\, these draconian new laws and the politicians that peddle them are winning over the Ugandan public. But these dangerous policies and the money that fuels them aren’t coming from Africa; they’re being imported from some of America’s largest megachurches. \nUsing vérité\, interviews\, and hidden camera footage\, the film allows American religious leaders and their young missionaries that make up the “front lines in a battle for billions of souls” to explain their positions in their own words. Shocking and enlightening\, touching and horrifying\, God Loves Uganda is a searing look at the role of American evangelical missionaries in the persecution of gay Africans. \n \n  \nJoin CFI Toronto for a screening followed by short conversation on the current situation and what we can do\, featuring: \nAndrea Houston – Journalist from XTRA!\nJohn Nicolas – Pride Uganda \nHot Docs Bloor Cinema\, 506 Bloor St. W\, Toronto\nThu\, Nov 28 6:30 PM\nTickets $11\nClick here to buy now \n  \n

SUMMARY:Movie Night: Life of Brian
DESCRIPTION:Monty Python’s The Life of Brian is a classic movie! It follows Brian\, who is born on the original Christmas\, in the stable next door. He then spends the rest of his life being mistaken for a messiah. Think of the song “Always look on the bright side of life\, doo doo….”. That comes from this movie! \n \nIt’s going to be a casual family friendly environment similar to the the great success we had with our Carl Sagan Day event. Relax on comfortable couches at Ten Nightclub as we project the movie. Hang out with friends and meet new friends in our Skeptical/Atheist/Humanist group! \nMovie night is back and will be a regular monthly event for CFI Calgary. If you have ideas for future movies or documentaries that you think our community would enjoy\, let us know in the comments. \nVisit our Facebook Event page.
