SUMMARY:CFIC T.O. Science & Philosophy Book Club - "god is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything" by Christopher Hitchens
DESCRIPTION:This group is hosted by CFI Canada members Christine Gagnon and Vlad Bunea at our National Headquarters\, 55 Eglinton Ave E.\, Suite 307\, Buzzer Code 49\, from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Suggested donation is $5. There is an after-event at a location near the office. \nThe goal is to provide a friendly\, free-thinking environment in which to discuss books that inspire rewarding conversation on subjects related to science and philosophy. \nIn Hitch we trust! \nThis month we look at a pillar\, a cornerstone\, a mainstay in the New (Gnu) Atheist movement written by\, arguably\, the most popular of the Four Horsemen\, Christopher Hitchens: god is not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything. \nPublishers Weekly said of the book: “Hitchens\, one of our great political pugilists\, delivers the best of the recent rash of atheist manifestos. The same contrarian spirit that makes him delightful reading as a political commentator…makes him an entertaining huckster prosecutor once he has god placed in the dock.”` \nEye Weekly said\, “[Hitchens is] an intellectual pugilist\, and in god is Not Great he kicks sand in the face of the biggest bully of all: religion.” \n  \n
