Local Branches allow CFIC members to create a community of like-minded people. Branches receive support from CFIC and, in return, promote CFIC to its membership. Local branch volunteers must be members of CFIC (note that an earned membership category is available). CFIC offers local branches in larger centres where the population is sufficient to provide the critical mass necessary to create and sustain a branch.
For those without convenient access to a physical CFIC branch, we have recently launched a Virtual Branch that will offer online discussions and programming.
Branches are currently 100% volunteer run. Locally, branches decide what programs and events to hold and how to communicate with members and local communities. Branches are strongly encouraged to offer at least one ongoing (weekly or monthly) program and at least one special event each year. In addition, branches maintain an online presence through active social media sites.
Join our daily events at CFIC: Living without Religion, ONLINE Secular Chat – Ottawa West, ONLINE Secular Community Network – Hosted by SCN Ottawa West, Skeptics in the Pub: Ottawa, Book Club (Non-Fiction), Skepticamp, Kids for Inquiry, pub talks, video series, trivia quizzes, major speaker events, miscellaneous social activities, and participation in events/activities sponsored by other organizations.
